Huntington Lodge No. 65 I.O.O.F installs new officers
HUNTINGTON - Officers for this year were recently installed by Huntington Lodge No. 64, Independent Order of Odd Fellows.
Installing officer was David Boyd of Kanawha Lodge No. 25 of Charleston, District Deputy Grand Master. He was assisted by Mike Duminiak, Past District Deputy Grand Master of Pennsylvania.
The new officers are: Larry E. Ball, noble grand; Richard L. Nance, vice grand; John Rybak, secretary; Kenneth R. Reffeitt, treasurer; Rev. Dennis C. Ashworth, chaplain; Tommy L. Burchell, conductor; Robert P. Swann, inside guardian; Terry W. Skaggs, outside guardian; Richard D. Ball, noble grand’s right support; Noia E. Burgess, vice grand’s right support; Bernard Brooks, vice grand’s left support; and James R. Ross, Sr., American flag bearer.
Mr. Swann, who joined the lodge on May 7, 1959, was presented with a 60-year membership pin. His late father, Paul Swann, was a past officer and trustee of the lodge.
The Order is this year celebrating the 200th Anniversary of Oddfellowship in America, being organized in Baltimore, Maryland, by five former English lodge members on April 26, 1819. Huntington Lodge was organized on Oct. 15, 1872, and for many years met on the top floor and owned the Bradshaw-Diehl Department Store at 3rd Ave. and 10th St. Due to urban renewal the lodge moved to the former Buffington School at 5th Ave. and 6th St. In 1995 the group moved to its current location, 530 Roby Road. The lodge meets on the first and third Thursdays with dinner at 6:30 p.m. and meeting at 7:30 p.m.
