Eleanor DeBoer, 96, Castle Rock, Colorado

Eleanor DeBoer, 96, Castle Rock, Colorado, died Thursday, Feb. 15, 2018.

Eleanor was born July 21, 1921, in the town of Alto, the daughter of Mathius and Gertrude Brethouwer Rens. Eleanor graduated from high school and on Nov. 19, 1942, she married John DeBoer in Alto. Following their marriage, they resided in the Alto and Waupun areas. Eleanor was a member of First Reformed Church in Waupun and a former Sunday school and Bible class teacher, a member of the Women’s Guild, a former 4-H instructor and a member of Waupun Memorial Hospital Auxiliary.

Eleanor is survived by a daughter, JoEllen (Tim) Bouwkamp of Colorado Springs, Colorado; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Twilah DeBoer.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Dayton and Willard Rens; and two sisters, Margaret Schierick and Doris Tenpas.

A funeral service will be held Monday, Feb. 19, at noon at Werner-Harmsen Funeral Home in Waupun. Burial will follow at Alto Cemetery. Friends and relatives may call on the family Monday from 10 a.m. until the time of service.
