SPD: Felon smacks into car during N. Seattle police chase

A felon running from cops blocked traffic on Aurora Avenue North Tuesday morning after running into the side of an SUV, Seattle police say.

Officers spotted the 49-year-old man wanted for vehicle theft about 9 a.m. at North 85th Street and Aurora Avenue North, reports indicate.

As police approached him, he allegedly ran south across 85th and west across Aurora, wearing a surgical mask and Seahawks jersey, before smacking into the side of a moving SUV.

The collision caused a southbound blockage on Aurora Avenue and police investigated the incident at the scene before reopening lanes.

Seattle Fire Department medics took the man to Harborview Medical Center for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

No one in the SUV was hurt.

Police say the 49-year-old man will be booked into King County Jail after his release from the hospital.
