Redskins acquire QB Kevin Hogan from Browns
The Washington Redskins traded a sixth-round round pick Friday to the Cleveland Browns in exchange for quarterback Kevin Hogan and a sixth-round pick.
In Hogan, the Redskins add a developmental quarterback to pair with veterans Alex Smith and Colt McCoy. Hogan, a 2016 fifth-round pick, started one game with the Browns last season. He has 621 career yards with four touchdowns and seven interceptions.
The Redskins moved down in the draft, swapping the 188th overall pick for the 205th overall selection.
Hogan, 25, spent five years at Stanford, but is originally a District native. He attended Gonzaga High School, graduating in 2011.
Redskins coach Jay Gruden noted at the scouting combine in March that the team could add a younger quarterback, in a Nate Sudfeld mold. Washington released Sudfeld prior to last season, opting to carry only two quarterbacks.
