Former Assemblyman Who Worked On King’s March On Washington Dies

NEW YORK (AP) _ Former state Assemblyman Seymour Posner, who served as public relations director for three marches on Washington led by the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr., has died of a heart attack. He was 63.

Posner died Tuesday at his home in Brooklyn.

Posner worked on the King marches in 1958, 1959 and 1963 while he was public relations director for the Urban League.

He was elected to the state Assembly from the South Bronx in 1965 and served for 13 years.

From 1984 to this year, he was vice chairman of the state Workers Compensation Board. At his death, he was legislative director of the Central Labor Council.

He is survived by a wife, Ann; a daughter, Naomi, of Brooklyn; and a sister.
