Full-time US prosecutor’s office opens in new Kentucky city

February 6, 2020 GMT

BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (AP) — A new full-time staffed federal prosecutor’s office opened in Kentucky, in Bowling Green.

The south-central Kentucky city had never had a full-time staffed federal prosecutor’s office, the U.S. attorney’s office said.

The opening Wednesday required approval from the U.S. Justice Department and Congress, U.S. Attorney Russell Coleman’s office said in a news release.

The office at the U.S. District Courthouse in Bowling Green will be staffed initially by Assistant U.S. Attorney Madison Sewell, the release said. She will be joined by Special Assistant U.S. Attorney Mark Yurchisin and another assistant prosecutor later this year. Yurchisin was sworn in during the ribbon-cutting ceremony.

The Western District of Kentucky has offices in Louisville and a staffed satellite office in Paducah besides the Bowling Green office.
