W-B P.D. Initiates Boy Scouts Explorer Program

The Wilkes-Barre Police Department has announced the development of the Boy Scouts of America Explorer Program. Community Policing Officer Robert Collins is heading the Boy Scouts of America Explorer Program in the city. Exploring is a nonprofit, nationwide program for boys and girls. The Wilkes-Barre Police have implemented two Explorer Programs which include the Explorer Post Program, which teaches young adults the values and qualities needed to succeed in a law enforcement career, and the Explorer Club Program, designed to mentor children through basketball skill development. Both programs promote personal growth, character development, physical fitness and good citizenship. The Wilkes-Barre Police Department is seeking monetary donations to assist with the costs of uniforms, equipment and travel costs to various events.
