Auto racing: Adams gets his hat trick at Deer Creek
SPRING VALLEY — Just three races into the season, Blake Adams is beginning to drive away from the rest of the Wissota Street Stocks drivers at Deer Creek Speedway.
Adams, from McIntire, Iowa, is now a perfect 3-for-3 at the track this year, as he won his third feature race in as many starts at Deer Creek in 2018. Adams’ victory Saturday helped him increase his lead in the season points standings to 37 ahead of second-place Nick Schwebach (335-298), who finished sixth in the feature. Braden Brauer was the runner-up.
The pits were packed with 124 cars, and three classes had enough drivers to necessitate B-Mains — USRA Modifieds, Wissota Midwest Modifieds and USRA B-Modifieds.
Ryan Maitland, of Waterloo, Iowa, won the USRA B-Modifieds A Main; Josh Crary, from Tomah, Wis., won the Midwest Modifieds feature; Dexton Koch, of Becker, captured the Wissota Super Stocks feature, and Rochester’s Brad Waits won the USRA Modifieds A Main.
The next points races at the track are scheduled for this Saturday, with racing beginning at 6 p.m. Slingshots are scheduled to race on Button Buck Speedway at 3 p.m.
