2018 Cornhusker State Games medal roundup

The 33rd annual Cornhusker State Games were held July 21-30 in Lincoln and Butler County was well-represented.

* Barry Preston, of Bellwood, finished first in the third flight of the senior men golf adult stroke play. The 21 contestants played two rounds of 18 holes, at Pioneers Golf Course on Saturday and Highland Golf Course on Sunday.

* Trevor Sindelar, of Edward, finished third with his partner Rodney Shaw of Lincoln in the male two-person Ninja Challenge, an “American Ninja Warrior” style obstacle competition that is inspired by the reality TV show.

* Faith Samek, of David City, won gold medals in the 400-meter dash and long jump contests in the track and field girls 7-8 years division. She also won a silver medal in the youth track and field 100-meter dash girls 7-8 years division.

The Cornhusker State Games is a program of the Nebraska Sports Council. The mission of the Nebraska Sports Council is to provide quality competition for amateur athletes of all ages and abilities and to promote healthy and active lifestyle choices.
