3-vehicle wreck on Bypass at Calhoun Road sends 2 to hospitals
At least one of two motorists was treated and released from the hospital Saturday following a wreck at the intersection of Calhoun Road and Veterans Memorial Highway.
Crystal Carlock, 33, of Kennesaw, was taken to Floyd Medical Center for treatment and was later released, FMC spokesman Dan Bevels said.
Michael Wayne Fox, 51, of Taylorsville, went to Redmond Regional Medical Center. Redmond did not return calls regarding Fox’s condition.
Floyd County police Pfc. Chris Shelly said a Ford Fusion driven by Carlock attempted to make a left turn from Veterans Memorial Highway onto Calhoun Road, coming into Rome. She turned in front of a Nissan Titan truck, driven by Fox.
The impact of their collision spun the Fusion around, striking a Nissan Pathfinder driven by Berry College student Allen Smithson, 22, of Huntsville, Alabama.
Carlock was cited for failing to yield the right of way.
