Man Shot Outside Wilkes-Barre Nightclub
WILKES-BARRE – A New York City man was shot following a fight outside a Wilkes-Barre nightclub early Thursday morning, according to police.
Officers responded to a reported motor vehicle accident at South Main and South streets about 1:40 a.m. Thursday, city police said in a post to the department’s Facebook page.
Further calls to police indicated the accident was related to a fight in progress and shots fired in the area of Ali Baba Liquor Lounge, a nightclub on South Main Street.
Officers observed a black Nissan Rogue crashed into a pole on South Street. Inside the vehicle they found Collin Jones, 26, of Brooklyn, New York, “who appeared to be the victim of a shooting incident,” police said.
Jones was treated at the scene, then taken to a local trauma center for treatment of a suspected gunshot wound, according to police.
A police investigation revealed that Jones and a woman were in the area of the nightclub, when a fight broke out among several people and spilled out into the street.
Jones and the woman got into the Nissan, after which shots were fired and Jones was apparently shot and wounded inside the vehicle before crashing into the pole, police said.
Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call the Wilkes-Barre Police Detective Division at 570-208-4224.
