Bush Worried About Levy, Not Gossip
WASHINGTON (AP) _ President Bush said Friday he is concerned about Chandra Levy, not the ``Washington whispers″ concerning her relationship with Rep. Gary Condit.
Bush, in a wide-ranging news conference, said he did not watch Condit’s interview with ABC’s Connie Chung but was briefed by adviser Karen Hughes and national security adviser Condoleezza Rice.
``I’m not worried about the gossip or the Washington whispers,″ Bush said. ``I’m worried about a young girl’s life.″
Bush said he had not formed an opinion about the case.
``I hope that the Levys’ prayers are answered,″ Bush said. ``That’s my hope.
``This isn’t about a congressman or a network. This is about a family that lost a daughter,″ Bush said.
Condit’s interview with ABC was his first broadcast interview since Levy, a former Bureau of Prisons intern, disappeared May 1. Her parents live in the district of the California Democrat.
