Fire destroys house, damages another in Vermont island town
NORTH HERO, Vt. (AP) — Fire officials in Vermont say fire damaged two houses in the northwestern part of the state, totally destroying one of them.
WCAX-TV reports multiple fire crews battled the fires in North Hero early Saturday morning. They say all five fire crews from Grand Isle County and one from outside the county were on the scene just before 1:30 a.m.
Officials say wind pushed fire from one home to trees, a shed and second home. The owners of the second home were in the house at the time, but made it out safely. There were no injuries from the fires, but the first home was declared a total loss.
The exact cause of the fire had not been determined on Saturday morning.
