LOCAL COLLEGE ROUNDUP: Wilkes Softball Wins 3 In Myrtle Beach

At Myrtle Beach, Wilkes softball picked up three wins on Wednesday at the Fastpitch Dreams Spring Classic.

The Colonels opened the day with a 7-6 win over Wesley, topped Rivier 10-1 and closed the day beating Mary Washington 7-2.

In the win over Wesley, the Colonels (3-2) built a 7-3 lead before hanging on for the win. Britny Jumalon drove in two runs with Gab Giordano, Haley Welker, Jessie Smith and Emma Stauffer each adding RBIs.

Grace Staunton got the win.

King’s goes 1-1

Also in Myrtle Beach, King’s split two games losing to Wesley 6-0 but coming back to beat Chatham 8-0.


In the win, Kristi Skok and Andria Narisi each drove in two runs. Mindina Lieback, Taylor Norris and Gabriella Medina also had RBIs.

Gianna Marsico pitched a six-hit shutout with four strikeouts.


At Port Charlotte, Florida, Misericordia broke a tied game with two runs in the top of the ninth, then held on to beat Baldwin Wallace 5-4.

Both Cougar runs in the ninth came off bunts.

Brady Madden had two RBIs in the game.

Women’s Lacrosse

At Clearwater, Florida, King’s lost to the United States Merchant Marine Academy 18-3.

Jen O’Connor, Brianna Raucci and Emily Sims scored for the Monarchs.
