Lowell Tops Attleboro; THS Lacrosse Teams Up
The Lowell High baseball team defeated non-league opponent Attleboro High, 5-3, on Saturday at Alumni Field.
Tim Scott got the win with 1 1/3 innings of relief work. Starter Adam Betty went 5 innings allowing just 1 hit and 1 walk while striking out 4.
Ray Velazquez had a double, a triple and 2 runs scored for LHS, whle Tommy Hassett belted a home run, Aiden Foyle had 2 RBI and Tyler Hoey had a hit and a run.
The Tigers improved to 4-0 on the young season with the win on their home turf.
Zach Savoie scored 3 goals to pace Tyngsboro. Kyle Williams, Mitch Anderson and Timmy Albert both scored a pair of goals and Panth Patel added 1. Josh Fairbanks had 4 assists and Anderson 2.
THS goalie Dan Paulauskas made 12 saves.
For Ayer/Bromfield, Joey Robinson had 2 goals, while Aiden Young, Dallas Briggs-Adams and Sam Hills added 1 apiece. Greg Canning had 2 assists.
Shepherd Hill 8
Sarah Hammerstone and Annabelle Harrington both fired in 3 goals to pace the Tigers to the victory.
Molly Lanier had a goal, assist and 4 ground balls; Jessica DeBruin had 4 interceptions on defense; and Hammerstone recorded 9 draw controls.
Notre Dame 3
The Academy of Notre Dame (Tyngsboro) scored the tight win on Friday.
NDA took two singles matches as No. 1 Sarah Houston won 6-2, 6-2, and No. 2 Annika Hanson prevailed 7-5, 6-1.
The No. 2 doubles team of Kathleen Lin and Katie Ma also won their match, 6-4, 7-5.
The No. 1 team of Bridget Ryan and Elena Murgula lost a hard-fought battle, 7-6, 7-5. Hannah McCleod was defeated at No. 3 singles.
TRACK & FIELD
Dracut High junior DJ Gagnon took first place in the shot put competition at the annual Haverhill Invitational with a personal-best heave of 48 feet, 11.5 inches.
DHS senior Gabby Brown was second in the discus with a throw of 95 feet, 8 inches.
