Boy Saved Once From Drowning Succumbs in Second Accident
TROPICAL FARMS, Fla. (AP) _ A small boy who nearly drowned in his family’s backyard Jacuzzi in January died after a second accident in which he fell into the family pool.
Charles Jacob Greenlees, 2, was found floating in the pool Wednesday by a baby sitter.
The boy had been left alone for about five minutes and toddled across the fenced front yard of his home, opened a screen-door latch to the rear patio and fell in the pool.
An hour later, he was pronounced dead at Martin Memorial Hospital, about 140 miles north of Miami, despite efforts by his baby sitter and rescue squads to revive him.
In January, the child had been saved when his mother, Sharon Greenlees, gave him cardiopulmonary resuscitation.
Greenlees, who teaches CPR for the American Heart Association, said after the close call that she hoped her the near-tragedy would encourage all parents to take CPR training.
