Kerry Parker Kerry Parker passed away on September 10th, 2017 surrounded by family in his home by the lake in Monroe, WA. Kerry was born June 26, 1937 in Seattle to John and Esther Parker in the Rainier Valley. He graduated from Franklin High School in 1956. Kerry worked for Boeing then became a mechanic at University Chevrolet in Seattle. Kerry served 8 years in the Naval Reserves. His hobby was racing outboard hydroplanes. Kerry and Sharon (Haralson) married in Ellensburg 1963. Following training at the Washington State Patrol Academy, he was commissioned as a trooper in 1966. Kerry was assigned to WSP Kittitas County. He and his wife moved to Ellensburg where they farmed for 48 years. Kerry enjoyed woodworking, raising waterfowl, fishing, hunting and hiking. Creating a huge Christmas light display on the farm was a joy and a gift to the community. In 2004, he donated his display to the Kittitas County Fair Board to display for all to view. Kerry retired from the patrol in 1990. Kerry and Sharon volunteered for Meals on Wheels and donated produce from to the food bank. In 2012, they made the move to a lake in Monroe, WA. Here he spent time feeding the fish, watching wildlife and boating. He is survived by his wife Sharon of 54 years, daughter Colleen (DWayne) Poeppel of Monroe and granddaughter Ashley of Lynnwood; daughter Lynette (Gene) Carlson of Eatonville, grandchildren Cory of Seattle and Melanie (Brian) great granddaughter Myla Ross of Yelm and; brother Vaughn of Bothell, nephew Rob (Jody) Parker of Snohomish and niece Kathy Van Tassel of Duvall. At Kerry’s request, there will be no service. The family will have an informal drop-in gathering at the First Lutheran Church, 512 N. Ruby, Ellensburg Saturday, September 23 starting at 1:30 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the , Evergreen Health Hospice Care or Ducks Unlimited.
