ISU football: Former Bengals star Lockette to coach at Florida State

Former Idaho State football player Telly Lockette was hired to coach running backs at Florida State, first reported by tomahawknation.com. Lockette played at ISU in 1993 and 1995-97, earning All-America status twice as a first-team all-Big Sky Conference linebacker. Lockette was inducted into the ISU Athletics Hall of fame in 2013.

Lockette previously coached running backs at Oregon State and South Florida. At FSU, he reuintes with former USF coach Willie Taggart, who was introduced as the Seminoles’ new head coach Dec. 6, replacing Jimbo Fisher.

Lockette coached former Florida State running backs Devonta Freeman and Dalvin Cook as prep stars at Miami Central High School. Freeman and Cook are now in the NFL.
