Ballroom dance: Top couple opens Premier year’s events

Aleksandar Vukosavljevic and his dance partner, Nevena, the 4th ranked American-style ballroom team in the world will get the Premier Ballroom Dance Company’s 2019 year of events underway  at the Holy Trinity Greek Church Community Center in Bridgeport, Saturday, Jan. 26.

Nevena, who goes by only by her first name professionally, along with her husband, Marko Urosevic, are the owners of the Fred Astaire studio franchise in Trumbull.

Prior to partnering with Vukosavljevic, Nevena danced with her husband, but Marko apparently was not up to her ability, according to a news release. “I wanted to keep my marriage together. I started dancing 10 years before her and she emerged 10 years ahead of me,” Urosevic said. All three are originally from Belgrade, Serbia.

Nevena had undergone extensive dance training in London as a student at the renown Jasmin Vardimon Theater. Dance partnering with Vukosavljevic for less than a year, the dancers were Grand Finalists for the World title held in Blackpool, England, and Silver medalists at the coveted Killick Royale Classic in London. On Dec. 1, they took third place in Russia in the prestigious Moscow Ball.
