n USPS Eastern Idaho Consumer Advisory Council Meeting will be today at noon in Council Chambers.

n Today, the Senior Activity Center, 427 N. Sixth Ave. in Pocatello, will host Bridge game at 8:30 a.m. Mahjong at 10 a.m., Zumba at 9 a.m., Creative Writing class at 1 p.m., Jackpot Bingo at 1:15 p.m. and a dance at 7:30 p.m.

n The Pocatello Branch of the American Association of University Women will hold its annual used book sale in ISU’s Reed Gymnasium west foyer today from noon to 7 p.m.; and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Parking is free on campus after 4 p.m. Thursday and Friday and all day on Saturday; pay-station parking is available in the lots behind Reed Gym and next to the Pond Student Union.


n On Saturday, the Senior Activity Center, 427 N. 6th Ave. will host a golf tournament shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. at Riverside Golf Course, and dance at 7:30 p.m. featuring Fiesta Country Band.

n The 4th Annual 9/11 Fallen Heroes Memorial Tribute 5K/10K Run and 1 Mile walk will be held on Saturday. The race will start and end at Snake River Landing, 901 Pier View Drive, Idaho Falls.

n Indiana Jones, Raiders of the Lost Ark will be show at the Portneuf Health Trust Ampithearter on Saturday.

n The Sagebrush Steppe Land Trust to host a Carolina-style Pig Roast will be Saturday starting at 4 p.m. at Mink Creek picnic area.

n On Saturday, the JRM Foundation will present the seventh annual Idaho’s Hometown Hero Ceremony and Gala at the Stephens Performing Arts Center at Idaho State University in Pocatello. The celebration will present keynote speaker, physician, innovator, entrepreneur and visionary Dr. Fahim Rahim, who will speak on this year’s theme, “Overcoming Adversity.” The celebration will begin at 3 p.m. with the Konner’s Car Show, a food truck festival and live band, which is free and open to the public until 6 p.m. at the Performing Arts Center. In addition, the Performing Arts Center will host the JRM Foundation’s Partner Expo from 4:30 to 6 p.m., which is also free and open to the public and where participants will learn about the work and meet the supporters of the JRM Foundation. At 6 p.m., the Idaho’s Hometown Hero Medal Ceremony, which is free and open to the public, will take place along with the keynote speech. Following the medal ceremony will be the dinner and Gala event celebration at 8 p.m. The dinner and Gala are a ticketed event at the Stephen’s Performing Arts Center.
