Ahead of Earth Day, cleanups, reminders offered locally
HUNTINGTON — Ahead of Earth Day, an annual celebration to support environmental protection that will be observed Monday, April 22, members of Women’s March West Virginia-Huntington reminded passersby in Huntington that there is no “Planet B.”
Members are not only encouraging environmental actions surrounding Earth Day, but they’re also leading the cause with a cleanup scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 20.
Volunteers will pick up trash and debris at Harris Riverfront Park, where participants plan to collect and remove refuse from the park area.
Barbara Garnett, Women’s March West Virginia-Huntington coordinator, described the effort as a small action but one of a variety of small actions in which individuals can contribute to environmental preservation.
All are welcome to join the cleanup Saturday.
