Uber: 2Q Earnings Snapshot
SAN FRANCISCO (AP) _ Uber Technologies Inc. (UBER) on Thursday reported a loss of $1.78 billion in its second quarter.
On a per-share basis, the San Francisco-based company said it had a loss of $1.02.
The results fell short of Wall Street expectations. The average estimate of 12 analysts surveyed by Zacks Investment Research was for a loss of 78 cents per share.
The ride-hailing company posted revenue of $2.24 billion in the period, surpassing Street forecasts. Nine analysts surveyed by Zacks expected $2.18 billion.
Uber shares have climbed 17% since the beginning of the year. In the final minutes of trading on Thursday, shares hit $34.71, a fall of 11% in the last 12 months.
