Bridgeport Police to face off with Metro North, Darien, in ice hockey fundraiser
BRIDGEPORT—Local police officers will lace up their skates and don a different uniform this week an annual police and fire charity tournament at the Webster Bank Arena.
The Bridgeport team, which plays together in an adult recreational league, will face off against Darien and Metro North Police Department teams Friday, Mar. 31, at 5:15 p.m. and 9:00 p.m., respectively.
Other area agencies, including fire departments, are participating in the tournament, which goes through the weekend
Tickets are $25 at the door, and include access games through Sunday, as well as a Sound Tigers game the following weekend, on April 8th.
The Sound Tigers are also organizing a 5k Run through Seaside Park connected with the tournament. Those interested in running can register using the following shortened URL: http://bit.ly/2nIZzOe.
Past ice hockey tournaments featuring the Bridgeport Police Department players have benefited families of first responders.
This year’s proceeds will go to a first responders charity called The Hundred Club of Connecticut, as well as Tuesday’s Children, which provides emergency support for trauma victims of all backgrounds.
