Scranton Attorney’s Law License Suspended
SCRANTON — The Pennsylvania Supreme Court issued an emergency order today temporarily suspending the law license of a Scranton attorney suspected of misappropriating client’s funds.
Edward James Kaushas II of 3218 Pittston Ave. was suspended based on the court’s finding that he misappropriated entrusted client funds and engaged in other egregious conduct that is causing immediate and substantial public or private harm, according to a press release issued by Disciplinary Board of the state Supreme Court. The press release does not provide further details of the conduct that led to the order.
The Supreme Court also directed all financial institutions at which Kaushas holds fiduciary funds to freeze the accounts and that Lackawanna County’s president judge issue any orders necessary to protect Kaushas’ clients’ funds. The suspension takes effect Dec. 30 and will continue until further order of the court.
