Friendly Sons Of St. Patrick Officers Gather

The Greater Pittston Friendly Sons of St. Patrick recently held its annual Past Presidents Dinner at the Knights of Columbus Hall. The evening honored immediate Past President Joe Long. During his tenure, two scholarships were awarded to a Pittston Area student and a Wyoming Area student, the Patrick Norwood Black Shamrock Golf Tournament was held, the first family outing was held, a Halfway to St. Patrick’s Party was conducted, the first St. Patrick’s Day Women’s Breakfast was organized, and the 104th annual St. Patrick’s Day Dinner was held. The Friendly Sons also held their annual elections that evening. The officers for the 2019-20 year will be: President-elect Matthew Meade; first vice president-elect Michael McFarland; second vice president-elect Christopher McFarland; treasurer-elect Shawn Brogan, and secretary-elect Errol O’Brien. The 105th Annual St. Patrick’s Day Dinner will be held on Sunday, March 17, at the Woodlands Inn and Resort. Tickets are available through any member of the club or any Thursday evening at the Pittston Knights of Columbus. The second annual Women’s Breakfast will be held at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, March 16, at the Monsignor John Bendik Pastoral Center at Seton Catholic Auditorium. Cost is $22 for the buffet style breakfast.
