Inmate escapes Northern California minimum-security prison
FORTUNA, Calif. (AP) — Officials say they are seeking a minimum-security inmate who walked away from a Northern California over the weekend.
The California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation says 40-year-old Bobby D. John was last seen at his job Sunday at the Prison Industry Authority Dairy at Deuel Vocational Institution near Tracy.
The department says staff members immediately searched surrounding areas and notified area law enforcement agencies and the department’s Office of Correctional Safety.
It says John entered the state prison system from Sacramento County in May 2014 with a six-year sentence for first-degree burglary. He was scheduled to be released in November 2020.
