Admiral Twin Drive-In reopening: Here’s the opening night lineup of movies

March 9, 2018

The Admiral Twin Drive-In reopens Friday, March 9, for its 67th season just off Route 66, showing outdoor cinema on two nine-story screens and just in time for families getting ready for spring break.

On the east side of the giant double-screen, you can see “A Wrinkle in Time” on opening day followed by “Black Panther” in the usual double-feature setting, with showtimes of 7:15 p.m. and 9:10 p.m., respectively.

The west side will feature the animated/live-action hit “Peter Rabbit” at 7:30 p.m. followed by “Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle” at about 9:10 p.m.

Tulsa’s iconic drive-in will be open Friday through Sunday nights during the spring, said drive-in co-owner Blake Smith, and he advised showing up at least 30 minutes before the first showtimes.

The drive-in opens at 6:30 p.m., and prices are $7 for age 12 and older and $3 for ages 3-11, which haven’t changed in more than six years, said Smith, whose family has been involved in operating the drive-in for three decades.

It remains one of only five drive-ins in the U.S. that sit near historic Route 66, and it’s become a local institution that has seen huge teen crowds in the 1950s and ’60s, the filming of “The Outsiders” in the 1980s and a rebuild after a fire destroyed the screen tower in 2010.
