Vehicle vs. utility pole led to New Milford power outages
NEW MILFORD — There were a number of power outages in town Sunday night after a vehicle crashed into a utility pole.
The accident occurred at the Route 109 and Hipp Road intersection around 8 p.m. No serious injuries were reported.
Shortly after the collision, residents on Facebook reported power outages on Buckingham Road, Charterhouse Road, Ridge Road, Archers Lane, Dorset Drive and Timber Lane.
One resident wrote that the power may have been intentionally shut off in order to “repair the already re-repaired pole that everyone seems to hit.”
According to another resident, Sunday night’s crash was the “[third] or [fourth] time in the last year” that a driver “hit a pole at Hipp and 109.”
By 10:30 p.m. Sunday, only five Eversource customers in New Milford did not have power.
A police accident report was not available Monday morning.
