College Signing: Sonoraville’s Blaylock signs with West Georgia Tech

November 9, 2016

Sonoraville High senior Baylee Blaylock (front row, center) signed a softball scholarship with West Georgia Technical College (Carrollton, Ga.) on Monday.

Blaylock said of the signing: “This means a lot because I’ve given up a lot of time and missed a lot of things to play softball over the past few years. So to me, this is my hard work and sacrifices paying off. It means that I’ve accomplished what I’ve worked so hard for. I wanted to sign with (West Georgia Tech) because I wanted to stay close to home, and it seemed like a good fit for me. They have a new facility, a nice school and it is a very nice place. Everyone was welcoming, and Coach (Monica) Mills really made it feel like a home away from home for me. I’m very ready to go to college and get started. I’ve already made my plans to go two years to get my core work done and then transfer to finish my degree in radiology because I want to work in a hospital and get to work with people.”

Also attending the signing were: Mother Robin Blaylock (front row, from left), father Scott Blaylock, Sonoraville High principal Bruce Potts (back row, from left), hitting coach Steve Robbins, Sonoraville High head softball coach Chad Hayes, West Georgia Tech head softball coach Monica Mills, Sonoraville High assistant softball coach Daniel McArthur, grandmother Neva Adams, Grandfather David Adams and Sonoraville High athletic director Brent Mashburn.
