Rochester Rowing Club fares well in Duluth

The Rochester Rowing Club had a strong showing July 15 in the Duluth International Regatta.

RRC had three teams finishing second. They were the team of Gretchen Dowdy, Nicole Powell, Lauren Fee and Grace Odell in the Junior Women’s Quad Sculling; the team of Sahaj Singh, Nolan Caples, Nico Grothey, Parth Gandhi and Oscar Hogan in the Junior Men’s Quad Sweeping; and the team of Parth Gandhi, Sahaj Singh, Nolan Caples and Nico Grothey in the Junior Men’s Quad Sculling.

“I was pleased with our results,” RRC interim head coach Caleb Schuder said. “It would have been awesome to have a team win a race or two. But this will keep them hungry for more, so they keep pushing in practice.”

The next competition for the RRC is Aug. 11-12, at Lake Elmo.

Masters Women’s 2 (sculling): Kim Batterson/Bridget Dean, eighth out of nine

Junior Men’s 8 (sweeping): Sahaj Singh, Adriano Fitzsimmons, Aidan Warrington, Adrian Chowdhury, Ethan Wolf, Nick Stanley, Nico Grothey, Nolan Caples, (coxswain) Oscar Hogan, fourth out of five.

Junior Women’s 4 (sculling): Gretchen Dowdy, Nicole Powell, Lauren Fee, Grace Odell, second out of 18.

Junior Men’s 4 (sweeping): Sahaj Singh, Nolan Caples, Nico Grothey, Parth Gandhi, (coxswain) Oscar Hogan, second out of seven.

Junior Women’s 2 (sculling): Sophie Truesdale, Lauren Fee, second out of 25; Nicole Powell, Grace Odell, eighth out of 25.

Junior Women’s 4 (sweeping): Sophie Truesdale, Gretchen Dowdy, Lauren Fee, Grace Odell, Nicole Powell (Coxswain), fourth out of 10.

Junior Men’s 4 (sculling): Parth Gandhi, Sahaj Singh, Nolan Caples, Nico Grothey, second out of 14.
