COLORBLIND TEACHER

SEMINOLE, Fla. _ A high school history teacher in Florida received the gift of color from his students this holiday season. The students in his Advanced Placement U.S. History course last year, all seniors, wondered why all the markers beneath the teacher’s dry erase board are labeled by color. SCHOOL SHOOTING-FLORIDA _ Deputies in one South Florida county will have to try to confront active shooters in the future. It’s a change to the Broward County’s Sheriff’s written policy that drew controversy following the Feb. 14 mass shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School.

HURRICANE MICHAEL-CATEGORY _ Some officials in one Florida Panhandle county are pushing for Hurricane Michael to be labelled a Category 5 storm.

FLORIDA SEXUAL ASSAULT _ A Virginia man arrested in a decades-old sexual assault has been released from jail after posting a $1 million bail.

BALCONY COLLAPSE-FLORIDA _ Four people were sent to hospitals after a Miami Beach condominium balcony collapsed and fell on a car.

BALD EAGLE HATCHED _ A live web cam showed a bald eaglet in Florida pecking its way out of its egg to the delight of thousands of viewers.
