Fifth Body Found In Wooded Section of Sequoyah County

November 18, 1985

SALLISAW, Okla. (AP) _ A fifth body has been found in a wooded area about 200 yards from the spot where four members of an Oklahoma City family were discovered slain earlier this month, authorities said.

The body, which appeared to be that of a young male, was spotted Sunday by a search party of sheriff’s deputies, state Bureau of Investigation agents and volunteers, said Sequoyah County Sheriff Sam Lockhart.

The remains of a woman and three of her children had been found earlier in the same hilly section of Sequoyah County, and the whereabouts of the woman’s 14-year-old son have been unknown.

A local medical examiner determined the person found Sunday had been dead about the same length of time as the four family members, said Paul Renfrow, a spokesman for the Bureau of Investigation.

The woman’s former husband, Herman Edward Lamb Jr., was being sought on four counts of first-degree murder.

″We had searched the area thoroughly on two occasions,″ Renfrow said. ″We had been working on the theory that the boy had been with his dad, but it appears that might not be the case.″

Police identified the youth as Terry Lamb.

Four pairs of jogging shoes were found when the bodies were discovered Nov. 4 and 5, and lawmen found a fifth pair of jogging shoes in the remote area last week.

″I always believed there was another body out there because of the extra set of tennis shoes,″ Lockhart said.

The woman was identified as Linda Wheeler, 35. The children were identified as Michael Moseley, 9, Edward Moseley, 11, and Angela Moseley, 13.

Medical examiners reported last week that the children had been beaten to death and the two older children also had been stabbed, said Renfrow.

The elder Lamb was last seen in the Sallisaw area in July, officials said. Renfrow said Lamb has probably left the state.

Lamb, 39, has been sought since June 20 when he failed to appear in Sequoyah County District Court. A warrant had been issued for his arrest on charges of driving while intoxicated, attempting to elude police and possession of a firearm.
