Troopers seize more than 9,500 cartridges of hash oil at I-80 rest area in central Nebraska
A man who was driving with thousands of vape pen cartridges filled with hash oil was arrested Friday at an Interstate 80 rest area, the Nebraska State Patrol said.
The arrest occurred near Brady, in central Nebraska.
Inside the man’s sport utility vehicle, the patrol said, were 9,550 hash oil cartridges with an estimated street value of $238,000 and a loaded Glock 17 pistol.
The driver, a 58-year-old man who lives in Breaux Bridge, Louisiana, told a trooper that a friend of the motorist’s son asked him to drive the pens to Chicago. When asked, the man “indicated that he was not aware that the vape pens contained hash,” the trooper wrote in an affidavit.
The man was charged in Lincoln County Court with possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony and carrying a concealed weapon.
