Judge adds year in jail for man who hid HIV-positive status
A man sentenced this year for having sex with women and not telling them he is HIV-positive was ordered Wednesday to spend additional time behind bars on a separate charge.
Travis Spoor, 38, of Silver Lake pleaded guilty in June to three counts of malicious mischief and was sentenced to three years in prison. A separate charge of malicious mischief was filed later against him, and he was sentenced Wednesday on that charge to one year in prison.
Each sentence will be served one after the other.
Allen Superior Court Judge Wendy Davis also ordered Spoor to pay $300 to a victim.
According to court documents, Spoor used dating websites to contact his victims. He signed a document required by Indiana law in 2013 that says people with communicable diseases are obligated to warn others they might be put at risk.
