n The Idaho Cancer Center at EIRMC, 3245 Channing Way in Idaho Falls, is hosting a special Tree of Hope Lighting Ceremony from 5 to 7 p.m. today to celebrate the lives of people lost to cancer and to offer inspiration and support to those still battling. Guests can decorate an ornament in honor of their loved ones to place on the Christmas tree and enjoy refreshments and music. The tree lighting is at 6:30 p.m.
n The Pocatello City Council will hold a clarification meeting at 5:30 p.m. today in the Paradice Conference Room at at Pocatello City Hall, followed by the regular City Council meeting at 6 p.m. in City Council Chambers.
n The National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI SI) peer support group meets every Thursday at 6 p.m. at Life Inc., 640 Pershing Ave. in Pocatello. Individuals dealing with mental health and in recovery are encouraged to come.

n “The House with a Clock in its Walls” is the feature at the Bengal Theater this weekend, with shows today at 7 p.m. and Friday and Saturday at 7 and 9:45 p.m. A young orphan is sent to live with his uncle who happens to be a warlock, and enters a world of magic and sorcery where a hidden clock planted by an evil sorcerer ticks ever closer toward the end of the world.
