CLEVELAND, Ohio – Meet Tony Drockton at a Hammitt trunk show this Saturday at Dillard’s Beachwood Place. He’s the founder, creative genius and head cheerleader behind the luxury American handbag brand headquartered in Southern California...and he’s from Cleveland.

With a real enthusiasm for Hammitt handbags and accessories, a love for his customers and a way of merging function with elegant design, Drockton says that what he learned growing up in Parma made all the difference. Hard work and quality craftsmanship mixed with equal parts fun are probably the best way to describe Drockton and his Hammitt products. He has taken the social out of social media and expanded the brand through special events and over-the-top parties at his Hermosa Beach headquarters.

Drockton, who’s in his early 50′s, started working in his father’s grocery store at 10 years old. The hard work taught him integrity. He went to Holy Name High School and says that he had a few teachers that also changed his life. “That experience lead me to focus on education in our charity and community work,” says Drockton. “Our goal is to donate 5% of Hammitt’s profits annually in support of educational programs locally and across the country because every kid deserves to have the same experience that I had growing up in Ohio,”

Drockton went on to college, then earned his MBA at Bowling Green State University. He quickly packed up and moved west. He had quick success with early start-ups in finance and construction. In 2008, he listened to his inner artist and moved into the world of fashion.

As for the bags, they’re in a category of their own. With designs unlike any other styles out there, they’re made of rich leathers in lush colors with beautiful textures. Drockton and his growing team have expanded the brand with new designs in a wide variety of shapes and sizes.
