JACKSON, Miss. (AP) — Devontae Shuler needed a little more confidence and found it on Wednesday night.

Shuler scored 19 points, while Terence Davis added 15 points, six rebounds and four assists and Mississippi beat Southeastern Louisiana 69-47 at the Mississippi Coliseum.

“I started to sense that they would be pressing and I just started attacking and got going,” Shuler said. “I just needed to come out with a little more confidence tonight. I always feel like I’m going to shoot the ball good.”

Ole Miss (7-2) has won four straight and is now 18-0 against Southeastern Louisiana.

“Every game has a life of its own and tonight we didn’t have our best stuff offensively, but defensively we guarded really well,” said Ole Miss first-year coach Kermit Davis. “It was a good night. The goal was to come to Jackson and win the game and we did that.”

Ole Miss held Southeastern Louisiana to just 12-percent shooting from 3-point range (2 of 17). Shuler was effective on both ends of the floor.

“Devontae did a good job shooting on offense and looked very athletic at the rim and defensively he made their guy take a lot of hard shots tonight,” Davis said. “They haven’t shot the ball from 3 great this year and tonight they missed some open shots. That saved us defensively.”

The Rebels never trailed.

Ole Miss used two big runs in the first half to build a 33-17 lead, including an 11-0 spurt midway through and a 13-8 run to close out the half. The Rebels opened the second half on an 8-2 run for a 41-19 lead and cruised to the win.

Shuler shot 7 of 10 from the field, including 3 of 4 from 3-point range, and had three assists. Davis was 6 of 11 from the field.

Even though Davis said Ole Miss didn’t bring their stuff offensively the Rebels did shoot 53 percent from the field.

Moses Greenwood had a game-high 20 points to lead Southeastern Louisiana (4-5). Greenwood shot 9 of 10 from the field and pulled down six rebounds.

Quinton Thomas added eight points for the Lions.

Southeastern Louisiana: The Lions could not get anything going from behind the arc, shooting 2 of 17 (12 percent) from 3-point range. Southeastern Louisiana also shot just 36 percent from the field.

Ole Miss: The Rebels scored 21 points off 13 Southeastern Louisiana turnovers. Ole Miss is on a little bit of a roll with just a few weeks remaining until conference play.

While Shuler and Davis put up the big numbers there were several solid performances from role players. Blake Hinson and Dominik Olejniczak had nine points each for Ole Miss. Bruce Stevens chipped in six points along with seven rebounds. Hinson added four rebounds and three assists.
