The jaw-dropping gowns of Fiesta’s Coronation 2019
The Order of the Alamo’s annual Fiesta display of all things over-the-top and glittery paraded through the Majestic Theatre Wednesday night, and it was a patriot’s delight.
This year was the Court of America the Beautiful, and the dresses and famously long trains honored everything from sea to shining sea. Dresses referenced quite the variety of themes, from the White House and the flag to the Pennsylvania Dutch and West Texas sunsets.
There were dresses that honored the country’s natural resources, our cultural traditions like jazz and quilting and even the famous wrought iron-bordered gardens of New Orleans.
Queen Claudia Leudemann Kiolbassa was attended by Felicia Louise Mannix, Princess of the Fulfillment of Nature’s Destiny, and 24 duchesses from both San Antonio and out of town.
Inspiration for the court theme came from Mistress of the Robes Elizabeth Roberts, but several San Antonio dressmakers toiled to make it all come to life.
