White House Executive Chef Named
WASHINGTON (AP) _ Hans Raffert, who joined the White House kitchen staff 18 years ago, has been named to the top position of executive chef, it was announced today.
He is the first to have been promoted to the position from within the ranks of the kitchen staff.
Raffert has been acting executive chef since January, when Jon Hill left after five months in the position.
Raffert, 60, was born in Germany and is a naturalized American citizen. He was hired as an assistant chef in 1969 during the Nixon administration.
