COLUMBUS — Gary J. Krings, 56, died Saturday, Nov. 19, 2016, at his home surrounded by his family.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 23, at St. Isidore Catholic Church in Columbus with the Rev. Joseph A. Miksch officiating. Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Tuesday, with an 8 p.m. vigil, and 5-8 p.m. Wednesday, all at the church. Burial will be in All Saints Cemetery in Columbus.
Gary J. Krings was born July 7, 1960, in Columbus to Herman and Henrietta (Shemek) Krings. He grew up in the Tarnov area and graduated from Humphrey High School in 1978. On Oct. 7, 1983, Gary was united in marriage to Lynn Denkinger at St. Francis Catholic Church in Humphrey. He worked at Husker Co-op, Flexcon and for the past 10 years at Holmberg Heating and Air in Columbus. Gary was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, golfing and gardening. As a child he loved going snagging with Fr. Leonard Ficenec. Gary enjoyed coaching his kids in sports and was their No. 1 fan. He loved Husker football and the Minnesota Vikings. Gary was a member of St. Isidore Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus.
He is survived by his wife, Lynn Krings of Columbus; daughter, Natalie Krings of Washington, D.C.; son, Matthew Krings and fiance’ Katie Foerster of Humphrey; daughter, Hannah Krings of Columbus; brother, Andy (Lisa) Krings of Humphrey; sister, Amy Krings of Tarnov; brother, Russell (Maryuree) Krings of Columbus; and sister, Bev (Greg) Holmberg of Columbus.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Herman and Henrietta Krings; and grandparents, Alphonse and Sophie Shemek and Herman Sr. and Helen Krings.
