BC-NY--New York Journalism Contest, UPDATE, ADVISORY, NY

January 29, 2019

Dear AP Members,

It’s that time of year again! It’s time to start submitting your finest journalism for the prestigious 2018 New York State Associated Press Association’s annual contest!

We are thrilled with this annual opportunity to recognize the incredible effort and work of your journalists. We all know how valuable, inspirational and motivational it is for staff to be recognized and we want to let you know our online platform is now open to receive those entries!

This year we are proud to introduce the Lifetime Achievement Award, which becomes our highest honor. It recognizes a New York state reporter, writer, editor, producer, broadcaster, executive, technician or other newsroom staff member whose work has made a significant and impactful contribution to New York journalism. Please send your nominations by Feb. 8 to AP NY State board member Dwayne Desaulniers, ddesaulniers@ap.org, with a letter detailing your nominee’s background and accomplishments and why he/she should win the award.

We have also updated and improved some of our existing journalism categories.

You will find details in the updated 2018 NYSAPA journalism contest rules document on our website ( http://discover.ap.org/contests/new-york ). We will not be mailing these materials, so please share this email with anyone at your newspaper who will be submitting or compiling entries.

To submit entries or for instructions on using the BetterBNC website, visit https://betternewspapercontest.com/2018-newyork-newspaper . The temporary password is Contest1.

If you have questions, please contact Emilia Poor epoor_contractor@ap.org at 212.748.9074.

Good luck in the contest!

Sincerely,

Your NY State AP Association Board of Directors
