‘Celebrity Fight Night’ will feature former Huskers like Johnny Rodgers
Have you ever wanted to see a Heisman Trophy winner punch a motivational speaker in the face? Or how about a fight between two national championship-winning Huskers?
Thanks to Terence “Bud” Crawford’s “Celebrity Fight Night,” fans will get the chance to see both — using inflatable boxing gloves, of course — on June 28 at the Omaha Design Center. Proceeds from the event will raise money for the B&B Sports Academy, which Crawford — newly crowned WBO welterweight champion — co-founded with his trainer, Brian “BoMac” McIntyre, and aims to help young people in North Omaha through sports and fitness.
The card features four fights between local celebrities:
» Zach Wiegert vs. Jamel Williams. Both former Huskers won national championships in the mid-1990s.
» Former Husker and radio host Damon Benning vs. “The Bottom Line” host Mike’l Severe
» KMTV meteorologist Ryan McPike vs. Fox 42′s Tom Becka
» Heisman Trophy winner Johnny Rodgers vs. motivational speaker Van Deeb
There will be three celebrity judges: Omaha Police Chief Todd Schmaderer, Boys & Girls Club president and CEO Ivan Gilreath, and 94.1 FM radio personality Jeff Degan. Godfather’s Pizza founder Willy Theisen and Lerner Company president Jay Lerner will be celebrity cornermen.
Tickets to the event cost $25 per person. The doors will open at 6:30 p.m. with the first fight scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Click here for more information.
