Train Carrying Lumber, Sand Derails In Dickson City
DICKSON CITY — Three cars of a freight train derailed near the borough building about noon today, borough clerk Kathy Simone said.
The Delaware Lackawanna Railroad train carrying lumber and sand derailed on its way from Scranton to Carbondale. No hazardous materials were being transported and no one was injured, said Acting Police Chief William Bilinski.
The cause of the derailment is under investigation.
The derailment stopped other cars across Eagle Lane, preventing drivers from reaching the borough building from Main Street, Simone said.
Drivers may still reach the building along Enterprise Street from Boulevard Avenue, she said.
