Darlington County plant damaged in Monday night fire
DARLINGTON, S.C. -- Firefighters from Darlington County and the City of Darlington Monday night battled a fire at ITW Angleboard in the Darlington County Industrial Park on Harry Byrd Highway.
Firefighters from three county stations as well as mutual aid from the city responded about 8:30 p.m. and arrived to find smoke showing from the rear of the building, Darlington County Fire Chief Ricky Flowers said through a release on the fire.
The fire apparently started in one of the machines at the plant, which manufactures packaging materials from recycled products.
The spread of the blaze was limited by the factory’s sprinkler system and firefighters were able to bring it under control in about an hour, according to the release.
Firefighters were assisted at the scene by medics with Darlington County EMS and deputies with the Darlington County Sheriff’s Office.
No injuries were reported as a result of the blaze.
