WHAT’S AT STAKE
The winner claims the Big 12 title and would maintain slight hopes of a spot in the College Football Playoff. The likely landing spot is the Sugar Bowl. A victory for Oklahoma State would be its second over the Sooners in three years, and its second straight in Norman.
Oklahoma State defense vs. Oklahoma RBs Joe Mixon and Samaje Perine. Oklahoma has a pair of Heisman candidates in QB Baker Mayfield and WR Dede Westbrook, but recent history shows the Sooners would rather pound the ball at this time of the year. The Sooners lead the Big 12 with 246.8 yards rushing per game in conference play. Oklahoma State has surrendered 209.4 yards per game on the ground in Big 12 action. The Sooners ran for 344 yards during last year’s 58-23 victory in Stillwater.
PLAYERS TO WATCH
Oklahoma State: QB Mason Rudolph. The junior quietly has posted some of the best numbers in the country. He’s fifth in the nation in yards passing per game (326.5), No. 8 in passing yards (3,591) and No. 8 in yards per attempt (9.18).
Oklahoma: CB Jordan Thomas. He’s a supremely talented player who has 15 pass breakups this season, but he occasionally has been burned deep. Oklahoma State’s receivers, led by speedster James Washington, will test him.
