Dayton Younger -- Rochester

Dayton Alfred Younger, age 78, of Rochester, died April 17, 2019, at Rochester Methodist Hospital.

Dayton was born Dec. 28, 1940, in St. Paul, the son of Elmer and Jessie (Millard) Younger. Dayton was united in marriage to Patricia Trabert on June 4, 1977, in Rochester. Dayton drove a milk truck for Elmer Rubo of Eyota for several years. He also worked for Strain Bussing and First Student, until his retirement.

When he was younger, Dayton loved fishing and hunting. He was a scraper, and he also liked to watch and feed the birds and squirrels. Dayton met with his friends and family at south HyVee for coffee almost daily.

He is preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Pamela Ann Cohran; and sisters, Loretta Phelps, Arlene Strain, and Jeanette Unger.

He is survived by his wife, Patricia; children, Troy (Cindy) Cohran of Georgia, Chuck Cohran (Marcia Gammell) of Rochester, and Patty (Leigh) Baldwin of Rochester; eight grandchildren, Jessica, Nicholas, Samantha, Audrey, Leslie, Oscar, Alicia, and Megan; seven great-grandchildren, Conner, Evelyn, Elizabeth, Freya, Julie, Tanya, and Abby; siblings, Raymond Younger of Byron, Beverly Strain of Rochester, and Sylvia (William) Rossman of Eyota; and many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 20, in the River Park Chapel at Macken Funeral Home with Rev. Lester Horntvedt officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
