Man who robbed cab driver, left ID, sentenced to 6 years
STAMFORD, Conn. (AP) — A man who robbed a cab driver at gunpoint but who made it easy for police to track him down because he left his wallet behind has been sentenced to six years in prison.
The Stamford Advocate reports that 48-year-old Jihad Amir was sentenced Tuesday after pleading guilty in May to first-degree robbery.
Police say a taxi driver picked up a man at a Stamford train station in September 2017.
When the driver arrived at the man’s destination, the passenger pulled a gun and demanded the driver give him all his money. He got away with $80.
Investigators found a wallet in the back seat that contained Amir’s identification card.
