Firefighter injured in Roswell fireworks blast dies

The Roswell firefighter wounded in an explosion last month died Sunday at a hospital in Lubbock, according to the fire department’s Facebook page.

Jeff Stroble, 46,?was one of 12 firefighters who had been preparing fireworks for the city’s Fourth of July display when the explosion took place around noon June 5.

Stroble and Robert “Hoby” Bonham, 36, were airlifted from the scene with life-threatening injuries. Bonham was released weeks later.

“On behalf of the City of Roswell our thoughts, prayers and deepest condolences are with his family and the entire Roswell Fire?Department,” Fire Chief Devin Graham wrote in a post around 10 p.m. Sunday.


Stroble, a fire apparatus operator, had been with the Roswell Fire Department for 17 years.
