Stratford Police: Hand grenade found, disarmed at All American Waste
STRATFORD — A grenade possibly from World War I or World War II ended up at Stratford’s All American Waste on Thursday.
Stratford Police responded to the waste management facility at 80 Grafield Avenue and found what Capt. Frank Eannotti said appeared to be a hand grenade. The State Police Bomb Squad was alerted and responded to the scene.
The bomb squad disarmed the explosive and removed it from the area, Eannotti said. He said the grenade appear to be from one of the World Wars and was discarded with garbage that ended up at the facility.
When employees noticed the hand grenade, they alerted officers to its presence immediately. The scene was cleared without incident, Eannotti said.
