Scottsbluff Police investigating Sunday morning fire
The Scottsbluff Police Department is investigating a fire at a Scottsbluff business early Sunday morning.
Firefighters from Scottsbluff, Gering and Scottsbluff Rural Fire Departments battled a fire at a building at 801 Ferdinand Drive early Sunday morning. Firefighters were called 801 Ferdinand Plaza at about 2 a.m.
“At this particular time, it is believed that the fire was intentional,” Scottsbluff Police Sgt. Lance Kite said in a press release Monday.
Scottsbluff Fire Capt. Ryan Lohr said that building was unoccupied at the time of the fire.
“We had fire coming out of a window on the northeast corner of the building,” he said. “We were able to hit it from the outside, and then we made entry and got it knocked down.”
The building is listed as being owned by Bentley-Miller Limited Partnership LLC, according to Scotts Bluff County tax records. Bentley-Miller is the corporation that owns the Scottsbluff Arby’s and other franchise locations.
Kite said police are conducting interviews of people who were near the scene at the time of the fire. Anyone with information about the fire is asked to contact the Scottsbluff Police Department, 308-632-7176, or Scotts Bluff County Crime Stoppers, 632-STOP (7867).
The fire was contained by around 3 a.m. and firefighters left the scene at about 4:20 a.m.
